the girl's relentless sobs
met by the guy's stony silence

1. pose questions
2. harness silence as a tool
3. calm her down
4. rephrase questions
5. prompt her to speak
6. ask him to give his perspective
7. summarise both accounts
8. explain gender differences
9. give recommendations
10. repeat process

Flexibility in application of 1-10 preferred
Experience and wisdom not provided

Dear Heng, how tender is this?! Ahh, to be graced to grow up with a teacher like you, so patient and wise!

But is it always that way around? No boys softening when they have heartaches? For they have them most certainly too, don't they?

Your decalogue is so sensitive and love filled.

Love,
Margherita
