Our writer's group topic for this month suggested by Rick is, 'From Where the Words Come' not an easy theme to write about.I hope you like it.

         From Where the Words Come

I have written poetry for so many stretching years,
It has brought me satisfaction and pleasures untold,
My love of rhyming poetry has not once been in arrears
And quite often there are stories that are needing to be told.

Sometimes I wonder where those words do come from
And then I think of all the places that Iíve been,
To Europe, and the States and the land of the Pom
And quite a great number of places that lie in between.

I had a farming back ground for I was born upon the land
And raised up to manhood through those depression years,
It was through my love of travel that I saw my world expand
And banish all those negative tales that one so often hears.

Travel is quite important to see how other people live,
It always makes us realize just how lucky we are here,
It broadens up our outlook and to each one it will give
So many things to write about that so vividly appear.

A genuine love of outback places gives me scope to write
And the view from top of Uluru is indeed beyond compare,
Up there in the Kimberlyís lake Arguileís a stunning site
And Yellow Waters wet-lands will make you stop and stare.

There are a great number of people who play a variety of sport,
A great source of information with many words to use,
The outstanding one is football where battles are weekly fought,
They play with every nerve they have for no one wants to lose.

There is cricket, tennis and golf thatís enjoyed by many folk,
All a wealth of different words that readily come to mind
And also horse racing that sometimes will send you broke,
Are all a source of words to use that come regularly to mind.

Like the making of a poet! (that would be you)

I enjoyed seeing the places you've been that have shaped the person you've become.

Very nice writing, Lindsay~

Yes, I believe that as long as one keeps living and doing he will have subjects to write about and the words will come. Joyce

All the things that you have seen and done in your lifetime have added to the richness of your pen's ink. We are blessed to have you sharing all that you have witnessed and experienced, through your warm, earthy poetry. It's real! ~ and it's folksy and highly appealing.

Love you, my dear Aussie Man!

I thought maybe, after reading this, I'd look back at your picture and see 007 himself in his natty attire and pefect face - but no, to my relief it was still you, scrubby, weather-worn, earth-smile and all. Whew, I feel so much better now.  Thought I'd lost a friend.

Loved the wwrite...don't do rhyming unless it accidental and I even try to avoid such accidents --- love it when its right and not forced, but just to darn much trouble for me to write.  But I do honor those of you that can write that way.

Be good, my friend ... and walk easy too...i do that much anyway (well walk easy anyway---not be too good).

JWesley you certainly haven't lost a friend
and I quite enjoyed your summing up of my picture. Writing rhyming poetry is not all that hard and it does give a great sense of satisfaction when you get it right. The thesauris on my computer does make it a lot easier for me to find the word that I want.
Thank you for your response and you walk easy too.

Thank you Prasad, I think that whatever you do, if you do it with great passion, you are more likely to suceed. In fact I have written my autobiography and Called it 'Passions Pursued'. Most Australians have a great love of sport, especcially football but there is also a great number of cricket enthusiasts as well.
Have a great day my friend.
