Numbed by an overpowering love
a woman knows to bide the times
and sit for a while emotionless
in contemplative reverie.

This she does when morning breaks
as if she wants to keep inside
the journey of her soul’s delight
that brought her happiness.

It’s an effort to remove her mind
from what she knows but cannot see
but she is older, wiser, now
and knows to halt the flow of need
that rises up from memory.

She moves but not before the words
have escaped into the ether
as if the placing of them there
a means to set her free.

Morning breaks upon the world,
the sky is clear and birds appear,
and yet the night of soul delight
still titivates her mind
in the manner of a bride!

Oh, dear Helen, I do know of this "contemplative reverie" and the nightly excursion into the soul dimension "which brings happiness". Your poem is PERFECT!

And it is a keeper ...

It is this knowing that brings true awareness into our life's journeys.

Love and hugs,
Margherita
ps I am excited that I finally discovered (after five years!!!!) how to activate the signature, which I always thought should appear automatically ... Rumi fits so well in here too!

"Love is the One who masters all things;
I am mastered totally by Love."

Dear Margherita - Thank you!  I'm excited for you too - well done!  I know that you know.  To wake up as I did this morning was truly amazing.  Something good must have happened during the night.  Wish I could know exactly what it was because I sure would like more of it!

Thanks AC!  I'm still a bit confused about the true meaning of "love" and how it actually fits into this world of ours because not many seem to truly "own" it.

I have thought that myself, I don't even have the words to tell you what "love" truly means!

But, I guess that it's up to the person who wants to know what it means, ask themselves and whatever you think of, is what Love is to you.

to you
