      Blind Flight

On evenings like this…
of waning hope,
and vanishing dreams,
when one thinks of
smoke rising from
a hundred hearths,
ten thousand years ago,
and all life’s fleeting things
like love that first flickers…
  then fades…
without clear explanation,
fine, fragile shades of all
the ‘could-have-beens’
pass unseen…
beyond this grasping
  world of men…
to a realm of vast,
undeniable truths,
and remarkable
chances forever lost…
to our shallow reach
or comprehension;
while we remain behind,
blind crows in collision
  course
on a starless, new-moon
  midnight.

"fine, fragile shades of all

Those are the dark shadows that can haunt (and cripple) the mind, heart and spirit.

Secondhanddreampoet,

"Blind Flight" is the best type of flight you can do.  You turn up all kinds of interesting, and sometimes profitable things.

Enjoy you flight brother.

Dear Bruce, such beautiful melancholy in your poem!
Watch the sky tonight, hopefully cloudless, and you will witness the shower of "falling stars" ... meteors, so you might feel the connection!

Love,

Sometimes I think melancholy brings forth the most beautiful poems of all.
