A poem with no rhyme or meter
A contradiction in terms
Or an anachronism already?

A lexicographer’s lust
Or a peasant’s unending toil?
The gurgle of a brook
Or the sweat rolling off a worker’s back?
Calligraphy in blood
Or the hurried jottings of a ball point pen?

Poetry’s shadows mingle
With the smiles of winter’s last morning
Black, grey and white
Unclean lines, unsure beginnings?

Poetry’s sheen merges
With the sighs of passion’s memories
Rich, warm and colorful
Of lingering moments, hastening breaths.

The smudges of my pen-
Notches on a mud road to that far-off distance
Or a tree lined avenue to nowhere?
Your laughter-filled eyes
Or my labored verse?

Wonderful! To me, poetry is to songwriting what television is to movies; similar, but ultimately different approach all together. Me, I'm not a poet, but I play one on T.V. (then again, I'm not quite a songwriter but...I play one in the movies?? hmm..)

Anyway, keep up the great work, I've liked pretty much everything you have written that I have seen so far, and I look forward to more.
