Can't You See

Caught in an imperfect moment, it's true
covered up in torrential rain, painted blue
the black eye throbs
the grey sky sobs
and one more time I fall down on my knees
yeah one more night and I'll see the forest for the trees
can't you see
can't you see
the love tearing around in this cage
I set it free
for you

Captured in photographic fatalism, beautiful
the dreams I'd dream of you, caught up my soul
and I never wanna wake
glue together the heartbreak
and one more time I'll chase this feeling to the end
once more try to possess the intangible, catch the wind
can't ever win
can't ever begin
to plant my seeds in your fertile heart
please stay open
for me

Can't you see
can't you see
the love I've been painting in nocturnal eternity
and love I've been straining to set the butterfly free
can't you see
you must see me
and what I've been feeling all this time
for you

Guaranteed to always need you, it's true
pathetic romantic but I don't know what to do
but I'll chase it through the fog
just like a dog
and once and for all understand what I feel for you
yeah one in a million chance but I know it's real and true
when I see you
can't you see that you
published the page of my shy poet soul
I wanna be beautiful
like you
like you are
can't you see

Can't you see
can't you see
the love I've been wringing out of my heart pens
the song I've been writing to catch that damn wind
and put it in a bottle
your hand on the throttle,
can't you see
you must see
just what you've been doing all this time
to me

Can't you see
can't you see
this love tearing around in my cage
and love, the song still drying on the page
it's for you
I set it free for you
can't you see
you've got me on my knees
it's true
