Silence of a summer day,
...as Helios rules his realm,
With fiery scepter at his beck,
...in stifling overwhelm,
Down below a meadowlark,
...at rest in hedge's row,
Whil'st on plains, wildflowers want,
...for slightest wind to blow,
Coyotes sleep in hidden den,
...in wait the dark of night,
The only movement, high above,
...lone red-tailed hawk in flight,
Then on the far horizon,
...clouds begin to form,
Foretelling of a cooling breeze,
...an August thunderstorm,
Comes distant rumble from on high,
...the flash of lightening bolt,
The dappled mare in oak tree's shade,
...nudges to her colt,
As rabbits slowly start to hop,
...from out beneath plum's thicket,
While a turtle near Sand Creek,
...seeks out a chirping cricket,
Quail chicks 'neath their mother's wing,
...prepare to leave the fold,
A world at rest now comes to life,
...a break in Helios' hold,
Comes first breath of North wind's blow,
...as clouds in spire billow,
Soon the rains shall bring relief,
...a cooling shall bestow,
But then winds switch from out the South,
...the clouds and rain retreat,
Colt and hare and meadowlark,
...seek respite from Sun's heat.

Such an apt description of our fickle fair weather.  I love storms and all the glorious tribulation that ensues....very well done.  You have a gift.
