Inquisitive Mind

A laugh, a gurgle, a simple smile captures my heart as I watch you a while
Your playful games, your curious ways, learning, growing developing more every day
Fingers exploring, as they outwardly grasp, holding on tightly to all that you clasp
You learn through your fingers, your touch and your taste, taking full learning advantage leaving nothing to waste
I watch and enjoy you and your first fumblings, create your own language through incomprehensive mumblings
Words evolve through grunts, their meanings we pretend, awaiting you to mature so we can comprehend
As you ripen and discover all that you do, sampling and judging all encounters that’s new
You unearth your discoveries, each one fulfilling, unique, satisfaction in wisdom, gallant yet still meek
As you progress through life you’ll soon realise, continual skills to gain knowledge of, as you’ll recognise
Curiosity aroused through inquisitive needs persists into adulthood, feeding your needs
A constant hunger for knowledge as tasks multiply, giving way to new skills as lessons intensify
As you start on your journey with your inquisitive mind, know the experience of learning you’ll never leave behind
Simple everyday tasks unfold and uncover, go now my child, learn and discover
