TAPED FREEDOM
30 September 2007

Bob Dylan words
wrapped in orange,
and rain melodies,
lift wide, the rickety gate
to a million, mingling, forgotten pathways
- and misty, long ago senses
unfurl
like the arms of a ballerina
when the silvered notes cajole.

Oh I know these words, their meaning, their nuance, their depth. We walked in different worlds but shared time and and now memories.
These are the gifts for difficult days, that lift us above the fogs that cloud our daily lives. I love this poem.
Thank you... thank you, kin.

Ooh! Yes. Actually too intelligent for me to do much more than appreciate it, but that I did! Great poem!

Yes, kin, I believe you do.  The strangest thing is that you mentioned the difficult times – the poem was very specifically about the most difficult times in my marriage, when I would get into my sports car (without the soft top on) and race out on one of the 8 roads out of the city we lived in at the time (Bloemfontein) with the tape on.  The tape wasn’t of Bob Dylan, but the words of his songs are so well chosen, that they remind me of the effect that the words on the orange tape had on me at that very sad time of my life.

Thanks amusemi.  I am glad my poem could do that for you too.

Giggles, Garapan – the explanation is above – but I am glad you enjoyed it!

Owl,

I've tried a half dozen times to write the perfect response to you, but it doesn't seem to come out right.  The good thing is that ballet exists now.   Wonderful writing, Owl.

I'm with Misc. on this poem, suffice it to say your snapshot of the past was well written.
Even though I was never a fan of Bob Dylan.

Thank you, Eric, I'm flattered.

Thank you Ida.  I hope they were good ones.

Thank you misc, but your answer is just perfect!  I am just puzzled about the "now".  Do you mean that ballet still exists in the USA?  Or do you mean that it is becoming more popular in the USA than it was?

Thank you Shadow in Blue.  I am glad you enjoyed it.
