I remember how you hurried over when he was coming home so you could pick another flower for your special vase just to see if he would notice or if he would ignore it and pour some gin instead and leave the love stuff to some distant thunder with larger hands you spoke of dreams softly like they were secrets waiting under a leaf perhaps lonely but you knew I would look there and want to know them slowly now I see your eyes behind the dark glasses daily when you hold the mirror that way and watch me wanting more then you drop your keys on purpose so I can return them to your heart ____________ daark |
