It’s not a catwalk but a life
that makes me swing and sway
first to left and then to right
as if I can’t decide
which part to use to gratify
soul’s innate desires.

See me there a model, please
of inconsistencies
that overemphasizes
what should come naturally
until I pause at centre stage.

But there I’m stuck, you see,
and must return the way I came
because the way I was before
like a tailor made outfit
comfortable and known
to be the way I’ve grown.

But soul, yes, the soul
not happy rips the dress
and dons the model, me,
in something foreign to the feel
and brings within a squirm
in place of that sway.

But never can a squirm
beget true happiness
and so the model, me
reaches behind the known
and emerges like a butterfly
free to be aligned
with the dictates of the heart.

Still today sometimes a sway
followed always with a squirm
but that’s the way it goes
until the pause, reflect,
ensures a different walk
down the catwalk of life!

I like that verse!!  I don't think we humans can help
being set in our ways, that too comes naturally.

Funny what sticks and where we get stuck.

Neat poem, Helen~

To leave the comfortable known behind is the premise to new wonderful discoveries on the catwalk of life.

You always write your philosophical reflections so beautifully, dear Helen!

Love and hugs.

Spoken from the vantage point of one who knows her strengths!
