Animated conversation
is wonderfully
fulfilling.

Some might say,
true communication
lives in body language;
those gestures,
that smile,
the eye-twinkle.

Sometimes listening
to the sound of you
breathing
  in and out
drowns the tonal vitality
and perhaps the meaning
of your words,
and I fear I might miss
  what it is
you are saying.

Yet my heart always hears
what is
truly
  important.

Oh, absolutely right, Kacy!  The heart is fine tuned, you see, to always hear the important stuff.  I'm so glad you are able to listen.

This simple and relevant truth is the reason I love to hear poets read their work, talk to people in person, meet them through all of my senses.
A very perceptive piece.

Kacy, no wonder you are such an excellent communicator - you listen with all your senses, but most of all with your heart.

Lovely poem, I read it twice, and after having saved it into my Midnitesun folder, will read it more.

And when you listen to what's important, you get it all.  I like this one.  You say a lot in it.

Yo Midnitesun,

Body language says a lot around here.  It's an Italian neighborhood, and family.

I've read this a few times, and I find myself arguing back and forth...

It's true that anybody can type the right words into a box, but there is a certain style that some have that is as sure as fingerprints upon the keys...

so I dunno. But it did remind me of one of my favorite quotes--

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
                                        -Antoine De Saint-Exupery

That was my signature on e mails for a long time, but...white on white? Nobody ever "caught it". But I do hope the essence was there...

Much enjoyed!
