If you would look in Bones
rowhouse door,
you’d see dirt—
practically a cloud of dirt
hovering through the house.

You can smell it’s mustiness
from outside.

Bones lives there.

There’s no Dad around for Bones,
none he’s ever known.

He knows what they are,
and he knows he ain’t got one.

There’s just Mom,
and her pet dogs.

Mom doesn’t pay
much attention to Bones.

She’s too busy with her bottles,
fighting her own demons.

Bones does the best he can,
with petty theft,
and selling it on the street.

Bobby

Thanks Bruce,

I'm glad you found it "powerful and real!", and of course thanks for the applause!

Yes, it is very real, right here in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

This is shiver-sad, but I know so real for so many.

You know, Bobby, I have seen hope in your poems.  Hope for those whose stories that you tell. Honestly, I have been avoiding Bones because I know the end of the story and I cried for him already.  Then, I realized that you are writing a wonderful tribute to this boy - and I am hanging with you and with Bones.

Thanks dear Alison,

As you may know, the real "Bones" may still be alive.  I talked to him about 30 or so years ago.  Of course, many kids like Bones, do not have happy endings.

Thanks for your kind words on my efforts.  Bones was a friend, and may still be alive.

Love Bobby

I can't help feeling sorry for Bones Bobby

But I am very thankful that I didn't have a mother like that.

Hi Bobby, poor Bones and many other children who end up committing crimes at a early age,  I am happy that you are writing about them and speaking on there behalf. Prasad

Thanks LindsayP,

I'm glad you care about Bones.

You are correct, his mother would never make "Mother of the Year".
