Time takes its own,
your life and mine,
and sometimes more.

Memory seems to decay
as time passes by,
and the faces of friends
slowly fade away.

The years leave us behind
in the dusty road,
struggling for answers
as the sun shines down
to dry the life within us.

Time takes its own
but never returns
what once was ours.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Max Ehrmann
