What's to Become of Me...

So many years have passed
with memories that seem to hide
leaving an emptiness and a hunger,
but filled with these tears yet uncried.

So many losses still felt,
left alone to dwell within mind.
Sleepless behind closed doors
lingering ahead but behind.

So what's to become of this one,
as time marches on without rest?
Aloneness does not become me
in my nakedness, in thoughts now undressed.

So what...if age is but a number
and that number increases two-fold.
When is the feeling of young
too young to be seen when you're old?

M

There is such a sadness and weariness in this write. I guess it's a part of life to wonder on such things. May you find peace and contentment.

Sadly, sometimes age brings new realizations. Acceptance of what can't be changed and regret over time wasted when we were able to change things.

just thoughts and words to keep my mind moving... can't  write about love and such when not in the mood

sometimes  I write based on something I read elsewhere or heard in a song~~

Thank you,
M

It is a sad write, Maureen, no matter what spurred it.  I find these days that I can only live one day at a time because one never knows what's around the corner.  I don't do alone very well either but it's amazing what a long inhale and slow exhale can do.  Oh, and I also dream until it seems real!

Somtimes words come from a passing mood, thought or the whisper of a muse.
It's what we no with the inspiration that truly matters - your's became a poem.
Well done.

~ That's what I keep saying to myself!

~ I hope not ever!

You sing the blues better that Aretha Franklin! Very well done!

valid questions for far too many of us amid this "Runaway American Dream!"

...wish I could think of pleasant; comforting; and helpful answers!

Dear Friend.  Last Sunday I celebrated my 90th birthday with a hundred and sixty of my kith and kin in my own yard with a barbecue and food galore.  We had the best time and believe me, I have never felt younger and more loved.  Don't worry about the years.  Love, Joyce

Well, I hit 65 this year and my mom's 83 (and I'm not sure she's not younger than me) and neither of us have reached that point yet...so I don't know that one EVER gets to that point...not in my family anyway...

Much enjoyed the read...as always...

Hi Maureen, that is a sad poem but I enjoyed the write, but old age is really only a state of mind. They say that you are only as old as you feel. Every day is a blessing if we only realized it. Doing volunteer work is a wonderful way to lift your spirits, especially working with the handicapped. I feel for you Maureen and I give you a big hug to help brighten your day. Lots of love.

I got out of this the aloneless, not so much the age that is downer... whatever it is, it made a lot of people think.  Kudos to you.
