The Awakening
~*Marge Tindal*~

   IV intrusion
             morphine infusion
        and the gray light danced
                                  all around
                         all around
and the gray light danced all around

peer of doctor with watchful eye
                    into sleep of gone bye-bye
                      wake up  wake up
                                  don't die
                                           don't die

        IV intrusion
             gives the morphed illusion
of the gray light dancing 'round
                               nursed sleight of hand
                                             in useless 'wake up' command
                            seeps into the sheet
                                      giving no flight to feet
still the gray light danced all around
                                                          all around
still the gray light danced all around

Suddenly wings of pink fluttered dawn
chased the gray light out to the lawn
bringing a song to the wakening ear
                                         of the loved ones waiting
                                                            waiting right here

                 the gray light was gone
yes, the gray light was gone
lovely pink light danced in it's place
                                                                in it's place
the pink light glowed on this face
                               and the gray light danced
                                                          no more
                                             no more
and the gray light danced no more~

I must thank my dear, dear friend, Doreen Peri, who wrote -
quote:
You, lady, are a strong and beautiful poet and God is working miracles with your life so that you will gain some insights you never had before, regarding love and life and the treasures and mysteries. You will heal soon and one of your new purposes will be to share what you learned during this period of illness and healing through your beautiful poetry!
Blessings to you, Doreen ... I'm trying~

Marge,

I think of you so often and was thinking of you and your granddaughters when I wrote the Caribou poem.  I know that you would love Denali Park and the wildflowers.  I saw so many animals yesterday - and you were on my mind.  I often find myself looking at nature and thinking of you.

May you win the battle over the "gray light" and return to your family and your home soon.

With love,
Alison

Anesthetics make me so sick.  I could feel your pulling out of this one.  Soon they will be over and you will be yourself again.  That is my prayer.  Love, Joyce

Thank you for sharing this awakening here.  Don't you agree we are never the same when an awakening occurs? I think so.  An incredible write and an inspiration to start the day... may you be healed of this affliction soon.

This is the most beautiful of all your writes Marge, not only the words, but the bedding, both above and below, on which they lay.

Marge,

I have goosebumps reading this poem, because I have felt that gray light of morphine and the sliding from consciouness recently, too.  I am sorry for the struggle with illness, but I know there will always be the pink light of new dawnings to greet you, for you carry that glow within. Love holds you, and what a lovely brush of wings!

It was a joy to read this.
