The generational gap is a snare
And the price that we pay is steep.
With no free minutes to spare,
Our cell-phones sing us to sleep.

Our guardians stayed in the past –
We’re alone. We demand an apology!
With no one to look after us,
We are raised by technology.

We follow the latest trends,
And create our friends in our likeness
In our virtual world of pretense.
We pray to our desktop icons.

We scream at the deep blue square,
But no one inside it is listening.
We sit, transfixed by the glare
Of a thousand pixels glistening.

We are social butterflies bound
By the world-wide-web of distress, -
No, we aren’t “laughing out loud,”
We’re sending an “SOS.”

This is a very telling poem, of our times.
It had a lot of meaning to it-- but the rhyme scheme iis a bit scewed.  But I prise message over method--and your words ring out loud & clear!
  Say on, Bro!

"With no one to look after us,
We are raised by technology."

Originating as a series of columns in the L.A. Free Press (an underground newspaper in the late 60's), Harlan Ellison's The Glass Teat compiled his essays on the influence of television on society.

You might find it interesting.

An SOS is only as good
as the hero
who hears it.
Well thought out, Master

This is not a new problem either - it's building up and getting worse each year.  Nice to read your poetry again.
