Sally,
as a former child rent girl,

and Felix,
as a former child rent boy,

teach their kid Angelo
never to do
the old whine and cry
about how bad
his life’s seems
to be going.

Whining and crying
is for little spoiled rich kids,
the children of self styled

“southern aristocrats”.

Little rich kids,
who sometimes don’t get
their heart’s desire
right away,
on demand.

The first person singular
personal pronoun “I”
was purged
from Angelo’s vocabulary
at an early age.

Sally and Felix
just couldn’t stand
to hear it.

They scoff
at that kind of
crap.

They’d heard it
too many times
from their rich,
and way self-centered
clients.

Bobby

I cannot help but personally feel a profound sense of emptiness and sadness upon reading this.

Thaanks dear Linda,

For reading and commenting.  It was not supposed to be sad Hon.  It's just that Angelo has been taught not to be an "I" person.  It allows him to look out for other people.  He's an excellent teacher.

Bobby

My Dad used to say, "Stop that crying or I'll give you something to cry about." and if you didn't, He would. Which pretty much took the "I" out of the situation.

Thanks dear Ida,

Your Father was a wise person.  Many people find constant use of "I" to be tiresome.

Thanks Prasad,

For the kind words on this.

I have worked as a professional engineer all over the world.  That's the one thing I have really noticed, kids all over the world act the same, and do the same things.

India, America, Mexico, Egypt, Korea, Japan, Colombia, Canada, Italy, France, Britain, Ireland, Scotland, China, Australia, Venezuela—kids all over are the same, and largely do the same things.

Yo Yann,

Well let's see.  It was about 20 years ago.  It was out in the country.  I think it was a meeting consulting on centrifuges.  Would you believe it, I even forget the company.  I don't keep records from back that far.  In fact, I don't keep records of my engineering back that far.

Sorry about that.

Bobby

When someone is discouraged from crying that is a terrible state of affairs.  Just because a person is miserable does not give him the right to prevent someone else from expressing his misery.  I know that this is the hood and it can make an individual hard but ... I did not grow up in the hood so how would I know.
