The Forbidden Fruit

Across sunny lands grew a special tree,
Where the forbidden, red apple grows.
Adam and Eve didn’t really believe,
In wearing those things called clothes.

The sun shone down on the big green tree,
That was full of the  red, apple fruit.
When Eve picked one --an earthquake had begun,
And a snake coiled up from the root.

As they sat beneath the Eden tree,
The evil serpent started to say,
“Eat the fruit of the forbidden tree.
--Go ahead. It’s really okay.”

As Eve gave Adam a bite of the apple,
Ominous clouds then covered the sky.
A voice came booming down from the heavens
“Your betrayal makes your Father cry.”

Adam and Eve felt naked and bare
So they covered their loins in fig leaves.
They knew they’d done wrong by taking the apple,
And would never again be thieves.

This, dear Michael, is a very charming version of the biblical tale. And like Eve, humans are still attracted to eat of forbidden fruits, how comes? Some lessons are hard to learn, it seems.

Really very well done!

Love,
Margherita

Arctic Wind, I find all of your poems a refreshing reading experience. I enjoyed your portrayal of this biblical story ~ and the humour that you slipped in there! May your poetic wind never stop blowing and blessing these blue pages.

With lots of love,

What a nice, poetic recap.  It reads "songlike".

If the pair turn out to be literal and not figurative, they're going to have alot to answer for, lol!

Quite an interesting take on the Adam and

Eve story Michael but I'm afraid there has

been a lot of forbidden fruit plucked from

the tree since then. Enjoyed your write.

Yo Artic Wind,

This is a good poem.

However, as I remember, God wasn't upset about the thievery, he was mad because he had told them to stay away from that tree.

This is when all the trouble started.
