LIVE MIRACLE 28 April 2007 No, that wasn’t enough for you. Your beautiful soul had to go the mile beyond the mile beyond the mile. Today, you did the impossible. To wipe away my tears that flowed uncontrollably on the way to your grave today, being 5 years today since you left for Heaven, you sent me Zebbie (formally Snow Leopard or Snow Cloud) to send me your horsey love through him. He is the first horse, since you, to lift his nose to me for a second kiss and a third and a fourth. And there I said my sixth dream was a dream-horse from you because you couldn’t give me a real horse. I was so wrong. There isn’t anything you can’t do. Of course, I do realize that you probably enlisted a lot of help from God. Flicka, thank you for Zebbie. God, thank you for Flicka. - Owl |

God, thank You for Flicka and Zebbie ~ and OWL.  Flicka, you may be gone in your physical form but your love and spirit live on ~ and you will always be remembered. Your beautiful soul had to go the mile beyond the mile beyond the mile. I enjoy these verses a lot but above all I'm glad (and was pretty sure) you find a sharing horse...animals are creature of God for sure and bring us a lot... have a very nice day yann |

Thank you so much Linda for those lovely Linda thoughts! And ePECially thank you for talking directly to Flicka and for what you said to him and for being one of those who will always remember him. Hugs to you too. Thank you Margherita for understanding the bond between Flicka and me so well. Thank you Alison - and thank you God for Alison! Giggles, Karen and happy smiles! Love you too! Yann, thank you for singling out that wonderful truth of Flicka and for being happy that I found Zebbie. He is the horse of a friend of mine and she no longer keeps him at the stables, so it was only that day and a few Saturdays after that, but that was enough. What a wonderful way to describe Zebbie - a sharing horse - if Margaret (the friend whose horse Zebbie is) brings him back to the stables again, I will tell Zebbie that you called him a sharing horse - he will love it. Margaret took Zebbie to the midlands somewhere because of an allergy or some condition he had and didn't have in the midlands - her other horse is still there at the horse farm where Flicka is buried. Thank you Olias. Flicka was/is the most wonderful and most loving and most loved (by lots of people)horse in the world. He will love your words. - Owl |

This is full of weepy wonderful emotion --- I like the part where you state "...must have enlisted help from God" and then how you end it in a thank you to Him, as well. This is wonderfully written. |

Diana - I'm so happy you are happy! And I love the name Zebbie- probably because it's a mixture of my son's name (zeph) and my name (debby)! How's that for ironic! Hope Zebbie brings you much more happiness! |

Thank you so much Debby, for being happy for my happiness. However, I think you misunderstood. Zebbie isn't mine. As I said to Yann above, he belonged to a friend of mine and she moved him to the Midlands. He had - emphysema, I think it was, at Summerfields, near Duban, but didn't have it at Mooi River, so she moved him up there - where she had got him from. I only saw him 2 or 3 Saturdays more, but it was that particular day, on the 5th anniversary of Flicka's death (just over a year ago), that Flicka gave Zebbie to me for the afternoon, because he knew I needed him so much - particularly on that day. The other 2 or 3 Saturdays were a bonus. I love the fact that Zebbie is a mixture of your and your son's name! No wonder you are so nice! Your son must be just as nice too! - Owl |

Thanks, Garapan. Yes, it is good to live with such passion. However, there is a heavy price to pay, but for me, in most cases, the joy has been well worth the tears, as is the case with my beloved horse, Flicka. In certain other cases, it hasn't seemed to have been worth it initially, but the lessons learned, have earned me a touch of wisdom, which I value with the passion it cost me. - Owl |

Heng, passion costs. You should know that. You are passionate about your life and your students. Passion is worth it (most times), but it costs. When it isn't worth it, there are worthwhile lessons to be learnt. It is very rewarding to live passionately, but it most certainly costs. I was responding to Garapan's response. I assumed that he was talking about the passion with which I experience every bit of life, which, of course, includes relationships, amongst every thing else. However, the poem was not about my passion for life in general. The poem was about Flicka's gift of a few minutes (right at the moment when I needed that gift most - a gift that nobody except Flicka would have thought of, not even me)of somebody else's horse, bonding with me far more than any other horse has since Flicka's death, that afternoon and a few minutes on a couple of other Saturdays, before Zebbie returned to the Midlands. With regard to my passion for my horse, the devastation I felt at his death and still feel, even though it is now over 6 years later (the poem was written over a year ago), was worth the joy of our bond during his life and the continued bond beyond the grave. Without that bond, I would fall apart. Flicka will always be a part of my everyday life. - Owl |

Thank you Ida, for your kind words. However Zebbie was never mine. As I said above to Yann, and then to Debbie, I only "had" Zebbie for a few minutes on the 5th anniversary (over a year ago) of Flicka’s death. The point of the poem was that Flicka gave me the gift of Zebbie to comfort me when I was overcome with grief on the anniversary of his death, because he knew that a few minutes with Zebbie was just what I needed - I wouldn't have thought of that, but Flicka did. Zebbie interacted with me more closely than any other horse since Flicka’s death and put his nose up to be kissed again and again, and no other horse had done that since Flicka’s death. Zebbie belonged to a friend of mine and she moved him to the Midlands. He had - emphysema, I think it was - at Summerfields, near Durban, but didn't have it at Mooi River, so she moved him up there - where she had got him from. I only saw him and interacted with him for a few minutes on each of 2 or 3 Saturdays more before he left for Mooi River - and those extra days were bonuses - and Flicka's gift was wonderful and perfectly timed. - Owl |
