Angelo is awakened
in the night.

Screams, and shouts,
a ruckus going down.

He looks out the window.

Two guys are out there
beating each other with tire chains.

He slams the window shut in disgust,
and wishes he were away from that.

Bobby

And how comprehensible this is! Angelo is indeed "awakening" to a more harmonious, peaceful life.

You said this well, dear Bobby.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks dear Margherita,

Scenes of actual ill intended violence live with a child forever.  There’s no getting away from the memory.

Love Bobby

Thanks XGarapanX,

Yes, Angelo is still doing very well.  He's grown now, and married to a lovely fellow math professor.  He’s a survivor, and so is she.

Angelo's lesson of life on the streets,
Keep him inside Bobby when its dark, it's much safer.

Angelo is sort of new to me.  I need to read more poems about the character.  But to be disgusted by violence is a good thing.
