Galloping Breyer horses.
Barretts of ribbon and bead.
Music boxes dancing
With rhythmic girls on speed.

Love notes, crumpled and worn,
Obstructing some of my view.
Stickers and memoribilia.
Pictures, old and new.

Look beyond your image,
The truth is not so far.
The girl I once reflected
Is now the woman who you are.

Folded clothes and necklaces.
Tuesday's bills and such.
The Bible rests unread today
Beside your Sunday clutch.

All this time I've stayed the same
And wittnessed as you've grown.
I wonder if you ever knew
The girl I once had known.

She stared less into my pane
And laughed and sang and played.
She never doubted direction
And she always knelt and prayed.

Reflection may be an image,
But it's also memory.
Forget what you think others want
And be who it is I still see.

I've had the same bedroom set since I was twelve years old.  Boy, I bet my dresser mirror could really tell some tales of my life, thus far!  This is my "reflection" of what I think it would tell me today.

You did a fine job with this.  Your thoughts on growing up and how we change,
yet remain the same,  makes for some great inspiration.  The mirror never lies that's for sure,
then again we tend to see what we want to see, I think we're entitled to that much.

I'm intrigued and I applaud you and your poem.

I LOVE Breyer horses! :-) How wonderful to have a touchstone to your past through that mirror. Enjoyed the journey through your write.

Ah. I almost cried, even if it wasn't really meant to be sad. The passing of those times is precious, like the death of a loved one.
