the teacher
distributes ammunition and
imparts sound firing skills

he frowns as
his kids fumble,
missing the target

some have adopted flippant posture;
others let distraction cloud their vision
the nervous ones
needed persuasion, even coercion
before pressing the trigger
an exasperating lot aimed
at the wrong lane!

the cloud of enmity
threatens to shroud
the quicksand of time
refuses to let go

the teacher
tailors instructions
to the needs of every soldier,
pushing towards 100% hit rates

the battle
mayn't be won;
it will definitely be hard-fought.

I loved the way you describe the student mindset! Some will be willing, some reluctant. Hopefully, they will all appreciate your time and effort!

VERY well said!

[Having been a teacher for many years...I can
   assuredly attest to that]

applause for this 'penning'!

Kaile,

Yes, teachers are always a challenge.  I have reduced more than one to tears of exasperation.

Don’t let guys like me get you down.

I, too, would love to be a pupil in your class.  Do you take 62-year old pupils in your school?  Smiling.
