  Deep-nested Sorrows

This ancient river…
(where a staggering
   moon is ‘born’ to
     drown)
flows eternally south;
and Spring dances ever-far
   ahead,
in vast, foreign lands
beyond my most
  dangerous dreams,
which are but smoke…
lost to the winds
of time and change;

Even the painful beauty
of such a Summer eve,
cannot dispel the deep-
  nested sorrows
over what can ‘never be’
and all those...
who shall not turn
this way again.

Awesome melancholy, beautifully expressed, dear Bruce.

Sorrow and sunset walk hand in hand.

Love,

Dear poet, this was very beautiful.

At least for me it made me think of  the fate of our brave soldiers in foreign lands, some of whom may never return.

Thank you for this.
You're a first hand dreamer in my book.

Happy Holiday to you.

I had to read this achingly sad poem several times before its full meaning came forth to surround me. You capture it all so well, Poet.

Yes this really does get you this one. Very sad looking back at things and times that cant be recaptured. I like your stuff.
