My Papas got arthritis
His hands wont grip the plow
Buzzards try to fight us
over what's left of the cow
The ground's so steep...
ya gotta reach
up to dig potatas
I found the note
that Mama wrote
It said, "I'll see ya latah"

Sistah moved to Richmond...
ran off wid a wealthy man
The ol' sow busted down the fence...
ran off wid da ham
Sistah come home cryin'
Pawned the diamond on her hand
Now we got bacon fryin'
every mornin in da pan

I went down into da town
Couldn't find a job
I got mugged by some thug
but had nothin to rob
I guess mah gun was biggah
cuz dat robba raised his hands
Wid da reward money...
I bought me some bottom land

Papa met a woman
dat worked wid honey bees
He felt young when he got stung
and got down on his knee
She said yes
Bought a dress
and a bouquet of begonias
They moved out o state
and now they pollinate
in Arizona

I dunno what the future holds
but the past aint nothin new
Experience is what we call
mistakes that we live through
The good and bad
is always gonna find you
here and now
But it all works out
somehow

This is funny, philosophical, wise, poetic.
just everything that makes me smile, Uriah.
Thumbs up!

Your reply on my poem (thank you!) reminded me of the fact that there was somewhere one of your poems I had not yet read and oh, I am so happy that I found it!

This is really fantastic and bitter-sweet and the philosophical conclusion is so uplifting and true.

Love,
Margherita

Yo XOx Uriah xOX,

So how's the bee keeping in Arizona?  Perhaps there's a lot of flowering cactus.

Nice poem.
