I placed an ad within our paper
“Everything Must Go”
It said to come out early
that the prices would be low

I don’t have all that much to sell
or even giveaway
And soon as I can get this done
I’ll be along my way

I think it’s time to pack it up
and hit another town
This place is getting real cold
and all the leaves are brown

I’m going to leave without a map
and simply kind of roam
And when the car runs out of gas
I’ll be at my new home

This time around I’m going to skip
my quest for happiness
Every time I look for love
I leave another mess

I have a pair of matching blankets
only one is worn
I have an antique silver frame
the picture in it’s torn

I have a couple season tickets
they were lots of fun
I guess if you are interested
I’ll sell them two for one

I need to sell this extra baggage
that I’ve have had too long
In hopes that I will find a place
I finally belong

Maybe I’m just looking for
a different place to be?
Maybe there is something waiting
out there just for me?

I’m hanging by a heartstring
and I don’t know what to do
I have a loveseat that’s for sale
and half of its brand new

Freedom of expression is our, write.

Oh my... please, please, please, please, please, tell me about this poem. Your life when you wrote it and your life now.  The last line gave me shivers.  I am now going to go watch "PS - I LOVE YOU" and probably cry my silly eyes out!

I'm enjoying these much tonight.  This is cleverly written --- love the "loveseat half used" part.  Clever.  To roam until you run out of gas --- ***sigh***

I agree, Rich. This is a very well written poem with a clever little twist at the end. Love it.

Richy, I really can't imagine (and I have a lot of imagination) you not fitting in anywhere on the planet with man, woman, child or animal, nor ever making a mess of looking for (or finding) love.

Your poem is another exquisitely sensitive, Richy-gem, but it really pulls at the heartstrings with its sadness.
