If I ever leave you
in this world all by yourself
I hope that you will read this poem
I kept high on a shelf

If I can never touch your face
or hear your lovely voice
I hope your path is always filled
with happiness and joy

I tried so hard to find the words
to show you how I feel
I tried to write this simple poem
that somehow would reveal

How much I always cared for you
in everything you did
I wish I told you more of all
the feelings that I hid

I’m sorry for the times I ever
caused you to be stressed
With all the love I felt from you
I know that I was blessed

I hope you know the problems
that we had were all my own
I’m sorry living with me
made you sometimes feel alone

I want for you to know that
when you need me I’ll be there
It doesn’t matter if you’re happy
or if you are your scared

Just know that I am holding you
whenever you have fear
And that I’ll always be there
every time you cry a tear

I wish I could have bottled up
your laughter in a vial
I’d pour it out into the wind
and make the whole world smile

I wish that I could find the color
trapped within your eyes
I’d toss it up into the air
and paint a whole new sky

I wish I would have captured your
illuminating glow
The effervescence of your smile
could lift those feeling low

I hope that you can find someone
who makes your spirit free
I hope that they take care of you
And love you just like me

Just think each time you stop to hold
And smell a pretty rose
That I may just be getting close
So I can kiss your nose

And when you see the clouds above
release their saddened tears
It’s just that I am missing you
and wishing you were near

I tried to find some special words
to show you how I feel
I tried to write this simple poem
that somehow would reveal

How truly I adore and worship
everything you do
If I could only find the words,
I’d give them all to you

Your well chosen words flow so nicely in this very romantic piece.  I like everything about it and lucky is the gal you wrote it to.

Oh my goodness.  You did it again or should I say you did it before and I just get the joy of reading it now!

I have to tell you something:  My mom gets on this site and just reads.  Says she can't write a lick of poetry, and has never really read poetry much until I joined this site and started writing recently.  She sent me an email with the heading "Richy" - and just went on and on about your poems!

This is beautiful.  I have something to ask... hmmm.... maybe it will wait! How mysterious is that???

What a delightful thought and how magically rendered, dear Richy. This reads so well and shows as always the beauty of your generous loving heart.

Absolutely beautiful!
