There is sadness within me
that surfaces from time to time
for people I have loved and lost
sometimes the sadness is too much
and my tears do flow
for my first love
who died too young
alone on a gravel road
for my grandparents
who left before I knew them well
for my father, my mother
constants in my life
gone before they could grow old together
for my aunts, my uncles
who loved me unconditionally
for my cousin, aged only nine
his moment ever so brief
for my family friend just passed
the last of an era
their spirits I now carry within me
and when sadness reigns upon my day
I let their presence hold me
until the smiles return

Be kind at heart....for everyone you meet has their own battle to fight.........

Honey we all harbor sadness in our life from time to time but you being the beautiful person that I have come to know you to be always handle that sadness with the grace of a lady.  Love this.

Hugs you.

Yo RDB,

There is a good thought in this poem.  I'd think of breaking it up into strophes.

Oh, Hugs to you dear sweet lady, my heart goes out to you...I loved my grandparents and I miss them so much sometimes, I had an aunt who was like a mother to me...

Allow me to wipe those tears away...

your new photo looks great!

I know these feelings very well, Roniece.
Sometimes they take over and we just have to fight them off...again. That's why there are people like you...to keep us going.

Dear Roniece, you wrote touchingly beautiful words here. And I love James' reply to this.

This kind of sadness creeps deeply into our hearts at times, it's the longing to feel our loved ones' presence and I am sure they really are very close and bring peace into our hearts.

Loving hugs.

as we all carry sadness at one time or another this was great to read...it puts such a joy into you knowing that those we loved maybe gone from our earthly home but never from our minds and our hearts thank you for writing this

Dear Roniece, my heart does go out to you

for all the sadness that you have endured

but you are a strong person my dear and I'm

sure you will overcome your deep sadness as

time goes by. Our sympathy to you Roniece.

Love and a big hug.

My sweet, sweet Roneice,

Just keep, that I know how you feel,
And if you don’t mind I’m sending you
A great big hug
((((((((((((((((((((((Roneice))))))))))))))))))))

Sadness is not as bad when you have someone
To share it with.

Beautiful poem.

There certainly is a lot of death and it can make one sad, but I like to look at death as a rearrangement or movement of energy. Every moment dies, but its momentum builds a new moment. The energy of the ones you think are dead is still here -- that's why your poem ends with your smile.

I am so sorry for your pain, but very relieved that you are your own healer, as is especially obvious in the last 4 lines:

their spirits I now carry within me
and when sadness reigns upon my day
I let their presence hold me
until the smiles return

If I may, I am going to carry those lines with me, for my own comfort and for the comfort of all whom I meet who need them.  Thank you for the poem, and especially the gift of those very special lines.

Hugs, warmth, strength and smiles

RDB,

This is a heart breaking write.  You show your sadness with such longing for what once was.  Roniece, you have been such a friend to me - and you were there for me when Cade died.  I don't know how I would have held up without your friendship.  Now I understand your understanding better.

I am always here for you - I have broad shoulders for a friend to rest her head on.

I love you,
Ali

this is absolutely superb...

very real, obviously heartfelt, emotive,
personal and ubiquitous in simultaneity!

v. serious and long-sustained applause!
