PICKET FENCE
27 November 2006

He who will not
embrace my thoughts
with honour and grace,
nor let me
lift my eyes to the wide, blue sky,
nor scatter my laughter
over happy days,
nor my tears
on the cold stone days,
will kill my soul

and I will not
consent
to murder.

Thank you Debby.  It took me a while to learn this.

Thank you Eric for seeing that.

and I will not consent to murder

I absolutely love this last bit. It makes the entire write.
Great job.

What would you attempt to do...if you knew you could not fail?.

Dear Diana this was an extraordinary write
peppered with pervocatives.

You humble me.
Truly well written!

A lesson everyone should learn and remember. It may have taken you a while to learn  but you relate it very well.

Thanks, Ringo.  And it is murder, to murder somebody’s soul.

Thank you Garapan.  I am glad you felt so.

Thank you, Richy neighbour!  Well, if I humble you, then we are on equal footing because you humble me with your words every time you open your mouth on these blue pages, whether in a poem, or in a response to our poems.

Thank you Ida.  I try to keep it that way, whether in a relationship or a friendship or with regard to colleagues and bosses.  I don’t always get it right, though.

this poem represents the perfect ingredient for a peaceful life. People can only do to us what we permit them to do. Withdraw the permission and you withdraw the threat. More people should understand this simple concept.

Your words are brilliant, miss

Thank you, Balladeer.     You are so right - we teach people how to treat us.  However, I don't believe that it is as easy as that because there are some people who don't want to learn.
