The train is on the tracks
but instead of moving stops
waiting, it would seem,
for help to roll the stock of love
down the living line
but, lo behold, no other track
to either left or right.

From behind a need loud and clear
and the train thinks, “What to do?”
Maybe if it speeds on up
the far behind won’t cry
and it chugs on its merry way
as a test of its endurance
against the lost and lonely.

Steam escapes like brain waves do
when need is left behind
and it turns the bends and corners
as if it heard a lie
to finally stand stationary
at the base of life anew.

Distance bars the join of hands
but what can one train do
when no one’s laid the railway line
to accommodate the two
but the ever hopeful far behind
follows faithfully.

You’ll see them there end to end
at the base of something good
waiting, it would seem,
for a miracle
but the air is dense and thick;
miracles can’t manifest
when un-summoned is the force
that lays the railway line.

Listen!  Can you hear?
One whistle blows tonight
but all that moves is only air
because intent of that one train
ineffective in the laying down
of an adjacent railway line!

Wonderfully creative, dear Helen!

Yet love does know no obstacles, it IS, and miracles manifest unhindered always everywhere ... but we are often, too often, blind to their manifestation.

Exquisite poem!

Love,
Margherita

Always a hidden meaning and the train merely a vehicle!  Thank you all!

I like those lines, and I hate to say, I can so relate to this.
I don't much care for train rides to no where.

I also like~

Always a hidden meaning and the train merely a vehicle!

Yea that!!!
