GOD SAVE OUR GRACIOUS ZIMBABWE
24 June 2008

I have no money
and no power
to do it by myself.

All I have,
to give,
is a blanket or two
but not enough petrol
to deliver them
and there were no
xenophobic attacks
in our city
so no Zimbabweans
to deliver them to.

I have no time
but I can make
some
and have offered some
should it be
needed,
and I am glad it is
and I am sad it isn’t.

So, God,
please will you tell me how I can help
right now
because the crisis
has built up too much
for it not
to explode
any moment.

God, save our gracious
our beautiful
our beloved
Zimbabwe.

I may not pray to 'God' but add my dreams and wishes to your Zimbabwe support campaign!

Thank you, Kacy.  You were a large part of the inspiration for this - the part where I actually want to DO something about it, not just cry and write poetry.

Do you see what I meant in my email to you and in my response to one of your poems recently?  Your influence spreads.  I also saw you and Alison in Jaime's poem called Ocean Waves Rainbows.  Never underestimate your power, Kacy.  It is much greater than you think.

Owl, you have such a big heart. Your caring shows so much in your poetry.

I wish we could save them all.

Thank you Tina, but then so have you a big heart too for caring.

It is too late for the many, who have been killed already.

Pol Pot, Mugabe, Hitler, there is no difference! How the world community allows this brutal thug to oppress a people is beyond me! Thanks for sharing your deep and passionate thoughts!

Thanks, Yann.  Yes it is a terrible situation - though, in this case, it isn't racism.  It is black on black despotism.

Yes, Art, Mugabe is insane.  He should be impeached for human rights violation.  My country (as much as I love it) and all of the other African countries, and America and the UK and every other country that could have helped, have let Zimbabwe down.  There are a few solitary individuals doing something, like Bishop Tutu of South Africa, Condolesa-Rice (I forget her first name) and some others who are trying, but it is too far little far too late.  I can't believe that the world is just looking on and not doing anything worthwhile.

I have been watching the news about this situation, Owl. It is so sad and so scary. Are you in any danger where you live? How people like this come to power and are able to create so much chaos in the world and remain completely un-checked is beyond me.

Ida, South Africans are safe from Robert Mugabe and his cohorts, but thanks for the concern.

Yes, I too, don't. understand it.  I am angry at the ones with power outside Zimbabwe and the means to help, for sticking their heads in the sand.
