.

The sky
Has a grim
Look today

A gray tones
The horizon line
With something
In the coloring
About which
No birds sing

Except perhaps
That mourning dove
Whose plaintive call
Stills the neighborhood
No matter how soft
Or far away

Time will change
The current mood
Life goes on
Or so I’m told
With you not here

It's a lonely sound that I hear from this poem, John.  Your writing seems to still something inside me as I read.

What she said. And it's a very poetic silence invoked, as well.

If there is such a thing as a ' fine blues' poem...this is it!

[it also effectively strikes resonating emotional chords in
the reader's psyche as does the best folk music classics
(of Woody and Arlo Guthrie, et al)]

serious, sustained applause for this 'write!'

This poem of longing reaches in and touches the heart, John. Love underlying story it tells.

Thank you all

But please
never read this
as anything other
than an every man poem

Thanks again
