Now I remember!

Now I remember why I came here.. .. I think
Yes I am sure I know now why I filled up the sink
Didn’t I fill it just a minute ago?
Crumbs why is that kettle boiling so slow?
That’s where my specs are. I wonder why they hid
Good job I needed milk from the fridge.´

Who’s at the door at this time of day …
I’ll just turn off the TV whilst I’m on my way
So many people with so many troubles
And apparently now the price of gas doubles

Why did the Postman not ring on the bell?
I’ve been here all day in my lonely hell
And I am sure my neighbour said he would call round
But for hours and hours I’ve not heard a sound

I would have enjoyed a quick chatter
About nothing that matters
And maybe we could have had a nice cup of tea.
Hey didn’t I make one..er..yes let ..me see
Oh where did I leave it.It’s somewhere lets think …
Now why is that cup empty…..In a full kitchen sink!

Ray, I do believe I know how this poem came about. I'm like that as well, when my head's not on straight during trying times.

I would gladly sit and chat with you about nothing ~ or anything ~ over a nice cup of hot tea.

I'm with you there in spirit,

With love and a comforting hug ~ and I'll bring some angel food cake to help lighten your mood.

Ray, your poem keeps coming back to mind, so I had to revisit it. Now another image is coming to mind of a lonely, elderly woman, living on her own, and she is suffering from some sad form of senility.

Whatever this poem is truly about, it really touches me.

Thank ytou linda ....It came to me as a lonly old lady ....my old Grandmother actually .....but your take on it being about me is valid ...things are a little mixed up around me at the moment!...by the way ...I should point out .....the poem about my mum?...she died One year six months and two days ago last Wednesday ...I was low because it would have been her 75th ....some people missed that repetitive line and "read ,she died today"....
Thank you for your kind words
Ray.

This is a beautifully touching poem.  I read it as an older lady and for you to be able to get the reader to feel that (being, I assume a middle-aged man) is so very impressive! You are soooooooooo  gooooooooddd!

Ray, in your previous poem, the idea had crossed my mind that your Mom might have had dementia and that her mind had "died" back then and that it was her physical body that had just now died. I was somewhat confused.

I enjoy your poetry, even though I may not always grasp its meaning as it had been intended.

Dear Ray, this is such an incredibly poignant poem and it reflects so very well the solitude many elderly people endure.

Thank you for this!

Love,
Margherita
