Brought forth during the splendor when the flowers burst as one
Under blue sky mornings as we’re nurtured by the sun
The nourishment of spring time bode the early days so well
The thawing of the past approaching, creeks begin to swell

We flourish in the meadow with the grasses flowing sweet
The spring of youth is waning as we wither in the heat
We spring into the future in a kind of summersault
We tumble to maturity by all things we we’re taught

Fairer times behind us this is our place in the sun
It’s time to make some changes before all is said and done
We look into tomorrow and we start to wonder why
The view is so much different since the innocence has died

The days are getting cooler and we’re almost half way there
We’re holding hands much tighter as we both are more aware
With every leaf the seconds click as time is drawing near
Gentle breezes whispering the falling of the year

So suddenly we’re ushered to the autumn of our life
The days are getting shorter but the passion’s still alive
Another generation is now holder of the torch
We spend our time with grandkids slowly rocking on the porch

We look into each other’s eyes and utter not a word
We share a love that goes beyond all things that can be heard
We hug for one last time in an embrace that never ends
The sun breaks through the darkness as finality impends

When then my final winter comes and I no longer am
When all the water from the thaw has broken through the dam
Just know that I enjoyed my stay with you above the ground
I only hope I caused more smiles, then I did cause frowns

Freedom of expression is our, write.

I am sure you know that you caused many, many Pip smiles and, to the best of my knowledge, no frowns!

Loved your poem and the walk through the seasons of your life.

Love your thoughts on the seasons of life, Rich. Profound and true to life. Nice picture too.

One of the sweetest, sentimental expressions of the seasons of one's life, that I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

I was especially touched by the following lines ~
"We look into each other’s eyes and utter not a word
We share a love that goes beyond all things that can be heard
We hug for one last time in an embrace that never ends
The sun breaks through the darkness as finality impends"

I'm literally all choked up. I understand and have known of such love.

When your final season does truly come, may it be as full of grace as you yourself are.

Oh my, dear Richy!!

This splendid work moved me to tears. What a sensitive heart you have.

The sun is still high ... and it is fun to keep the feet firmly in the air!

Love,
Margherita
