They are in a place without a home
Castoff cloth on a wind all alone,
Aimlessly drifting from a larger piece;
Here’s some cotton now black and brown
That some mechanic dropped on the ground,
Caught by breezes on its release.
There comes a nylon stocking on the wind
You almost have to wonder where it has been,
What happened to whom once did wear?
Did it escape some near drying line
Gone now the owner never to find,
Or cast off when it lost being a pair.
Coming on a gust in a gentle roll
Is a black sock with a very large hole,
Probably useless to the garbage cast
No longer did it conceal the heel
Well worn without the comfort feel
It gathered on the pile not to pass.
A piece here, a piece there, pieces now gone,
Once cloth, now only rags keep piling on.

Professor! You're back!  ~ and with an eclectic assortment of rags that the wind just blew in!

Sad thing is, after a tornado or hurricane has occurred, this is often the case. Each piece with a story to tell.

Giving you a warm, welcome-back hug,
EA

Gloomy!  I have missed your words of wisdom.

Thank you for these.

Thank you, Earth Angel,
Each piece a story to tell, certainly, this is the first piece in the reworked “Ragman Series” which is posted at my web site.  This introduction is a mild beginning.  Pleased you liked this and hope you enjoy the next parts.

Thank you, Susan Caldwell,
Not sure they make words of wisdom, but they are poetic.  Your words are kind.

Gloom
