I fear the loss
of words

of poetry

the ability to touch,
to be there...

just to be there.

It scares me
more than nightmares
or a thought of literal death,

this life
without words.

I so know this feeling.
Don't you ever sell yourself short, Dixie. Your words touched me deeply.
Hugs, you~

Without words is a frightening thought. You made your words stick here for me the reader.

Yo Passing shadows,

This is a nice poem.  Of course, one never knows when they will turn up wordless.  It happens to many, young and old.  Then all that's left is the mind.

Very nice, my friend...!!!  I agree.  At least the written word.

Very nice...I believe once we have it we always have it, even if at times it slips away, the missing builds appreciation...James

Dixie, a scary thought, very well put!  It led me to think of not having any words at all - whether losing just speech and ability to write physically, or losing them because of the brain no longer functioning.  I think I would rather lose my sight or my hearing or being able to walk - difficult to know which of all of these would be worse if one isn't in the situation.

Dixie,

You shouldn't be
It's pretty nice
and in the East a goal.

The world of words
is not the world,
much less . . .

Push this fear aside, dear Dixie. Welcome the words always every day within your mind and heart and you will always be able "to be here" and use your words to touch.

Love and hugs,
Margherita
