A HUNDRED TIPTOES
8 December 2006

Morning sun honours
a bright red shongololo
tickling a fallen log.

Thanks, Kacy.  I could have sworn that I posted this here before, but I did a search for it and couldn't find it - I am almost certain that I included the Archives.  Most shongololo's are brown, but in my forest garden, I have seen very few brown ones.  Almost all of mine are red.  Both very beautiful.

Thanks, Angel.  Glad you enjoyed it.

Giggles, Debby.  Glad you enjoyed it.

Oh here it is ... your first time shongololo! So lovely!

We had them in the garden in Switzerland and I remember wondering at all those feet, how they synchronized so perfectly ...

Thank you for looking up my first shongololo poem.  I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Were your Swiss shongololo's red or brown and what did you call them in Switzerland? I have also often wondered how they do it - Foot 1, Foot 2 etc - or all left side feet then all right side feet?  Shongololos need to be masters of co-ordination to walk!

In German their name is "Tausendfüssler" (millepedes or also centipedes). Ours were max. 3/4cm long and of a light brown color. Usually I found them curled up, but they were quick in reacting and hurrying off!

While googling for a similar image I found red ones, which probably must be like yours. So beautiful! But I didn't find on 34 pages one that was exactly like my memory of them!

Hope that all these pictures of shongololos won't haunt me in my dreams!
