Moved from a shack to a barn

Its not so much that Spring has arrived
As Winter, having done something shameful
Attempts to slink away unnoticed

And now, I am awaiting the sun
The actual sun, not this cold, yellow wash
Or the thin broth of April

I wait for the sun a man could wear
Not July’s desiccating presence
Or the adamant wither of August

I feel the need for a basking sun
One that will bring the reptile to the rock
And weary men to riverbanks

To worship the way an old man might
By whittling himself a prayer of contemplation
Or shearing away months of winters growth

As sacrifice for the birds to make their temples

nothing completes a Saturday better than a new wranx write! So, did you shave your beard and/or cut top-hairs for birdies nesting materials?
You've been missed, m'dear. I'd enjoy basking on a river rock, listening to some winter tales.

" The actual sun, not this cold, yellow wash
on the thin broth of April." What a great line. You poems are alway full of creativity
and the vision of a skilled poet.

*laughing*

Why yes! I've been in the habit of sitting by the river on the first nice day (with a basking sun) and trimming the beard somewhat..

And yes, I've found birdsnests containing bits of that winter growth (the gray is very easy to spot)

Thanks for reading, m'friends
