A delicate spider-trapeze
criss-crosses twin box hedges
growing along the east side
of a town cottage.
Silken threads fit for a Queen
shelter tender violets
resting in abandon
‘mid deep forest-green moss;
it’s a natural hidden paradise,
miniature safety-zone
for weary birds seeking respite
from high-noon heat
and the millions of sky-miles
logged on their wings.
The busy bugs try to hide,
but to no avail.
The hungry songbird is swift
and merciless,
eats her share before flying off
into the blistering sun.
Watching the movements
of a wandering toad
crossing the stone pathway,
I find myself wondering
how the universe
will unfold
when I am gone.

It will unfold in nothing less than perfection, dear Kacy. And probably it will be the moment for us to unveil so many mysteries ...

You are a wonderful observer ...

Someone once said, "No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should." but it is hard to imagine it unfolding without your wise and beautiful words, Kacy.

yes, Ida !...

" Beyond a wholesome discipline,
  be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe
  no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here...

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it
  should(!) "

Thank you each for 'unfolding' a moment of time with me, and thanking Bruce for siting Max Ehrman for the 'universe unfolding' concept.
"Desiderata" has been a favorite of mine since I was 10 years old!

Oh, Kacy, I wrapped myself in this natural paradise and hid from the concrete jungle the whole time I was hidden in your poem.  Not that I live in a concrete jungle, but it is out there, but forgotten for those reading moments.

a very relaxing read, Kacy~~

I love to sit on the porch swing and often watch nature taking its place.

Kacy, I appreciate how you unfold the beauty, the mysteries, and the intricacies of the microcosmic worlds that surround us. Many do not see ~ but through your poetry, they do.

Midnitesun, you've written a lot of very fine work, but this poem, read, re-read and re-read again, just takes my breath away.
