Some say dams and levees are good.
Growing more on the land is a plus.
For me, they are life-threatening forces.
I have no say in the matter,
for I am but a lowly shore-bird,
resident of marshes and floodplains,
and few have a vested interest
in my predicament.
I am not
an income-producer.
And I’m not a migratory bird
who can fly away
to find another breeding site.
While you build your dams
to satisfy your personal wants
you destroy my habitat,
dooming me
to the inevitable

extinction.

But perhaps,
as time flies
in the winds of change,
your collective behaviors
will inadvertently doom your species
to the same
end?

Ms. Midnitesun gives a fine 'voice' to the small, fragile, helpless, most 'endangered' ones!

applause!!

Kacy, your voice is always one, that I am always pleased to listen to...

and hear.  Love this lady. Hugs to you.

Kacy, the banded lapwing has asked me to ask you please to send the poem he wrote to that website or to an Austrailian newspaper or magazine.  It may just help.  If it doesn't, no harm will be done and you will have done your wonderful Kacy thing - and I can't believe that it won't help.  Love your lapwing's poem.  He writes very well.  Thank you for posting it for him.

What a beautiful bird he is! And how powerfully you speak his heart, dear Kacy!

Hi Midnitesun, a very powerful write,

“But perhaps,
as time flies
in the winds of change,
your collective behaviors
will inadvertently doom your species
to the same
end?”
Surely someday this is going happen the way we are abusing nature. Prasad
