Abstract Reflections
By Paul Wilson

Suppose I wasn’t who you thought I was
would I become a stranger in your eyes
After all we’ve been thru together
could you ignore my selfish lies

Each day a new heartache is born
thru it all wanting to tell you
Honesty consumed within my heart
by lies hoping we could start anew

I never meant to hurt you
choices made before I knew why
Skeletons in my closet... afraid
to open the door living another lie

Turn away from the person you thought you knew
I’m just a stranger …I don’t even know me
One day I’m happy…the next I’m sad
trying to be who I’m not is killing me

Who do I think I’m fooling
why play this deceitful game
Thoughts of yesterday fill my mind
when I was known by another name

Mirror reflects an image
that will never set me free
Face of a stranger standing there
Staring…staring back at me

Paul, on my second read through ~ I was actually singing your moving mots as lyrics!

I swear, your poem would make a great country song!

Loving hug,
Linda

I totally agree and the last stanza could sure be the chorus.  Nicely done Paul.

Dear Paul, these are very profound reflections ... we are larger than we might suspect and we contain more than we may grasp ... smile at your mirror and you will recognize yourself, your true self, your higher self, it's always there and it is magnificent.

Beautiful write and thought provoking.

Love,
Margherita

Well.

I'm puzzled.

(consider it sweet revenge? )

But I have no idea what I did to inspire such soul-searching, because I am reading it as that, Paullie, because if I read it literally there's gonna be some PAULLIE searching going on.

There's a Paullie, right? RIGHT?

*laughing*

There'd better be! <--um, for PAULLIE

I lubs ya!

Linda...I never thought of it as a song, but I have to admit i've heard worse.
Thanks so much fo your insight and your reply...Paul

Mysteria...Thank you as well for agreeing with Linda. Maybe I need to try and change some things around and try the song bit.
I really appreciate hearing from you. Take Care...Paul

Margherita...Your replies are always so heart touching. I believe you have a view within my soul that few have. Thanks bunches for reading and your thoughtful reply...Paul

Karen...Puzzled...confussed...you the one person that understands me more than I understand myself.
So if you have to do some Paullie searching, what are you gonna do if you find me??? LOL
YES there is a real Paullie, I think.
Be nice to me and I will e mail you about the inspiration thing.
