Not Wanted

To Change

I used to be the main part of a sectional,
You know, the part that is so heavy,
Cause in it I have a bed
Heavy as led.

I used to look so pretty in my newer days,
But then, then they moved away,
“No place for everything”
A death ring.

I must say they really did try however
As they crammed my large family in,
We took too much space for sure,
But intentions had been pure.

So pretty of maroon were we all together
Soon they will go and I’ll be left.
Now they moved away again
My family away to send.

This new place they like so very much
My brethren were given away,
And all alone I sit here
I too will go, I fear.

You see this place is much smaller for sure
Not really any room for me to stir,
There are problems with my size
Soon I’ll be gone I realize.

I’m living on borrowed time, I am it’s true
No longer whole or band new,
I’m not wanted anymore
Soon it’s out the door.

It is so hard to loose my family parts
As I grow older as time passes,
I am taking up needed room
And I can feel my doom.

Then one day I heard a real loud knock
“I need a extra bed” I heard say,
“Such a pretty little couch
(Good for a slouch.)

“This is just what I need” I heard him say
He bought me for my couch and bed,
I’m now so happy, plenty room
No longer do I live in doom.

Like the couch life takes many changing turns
And we can experience a brand new life,
When we seek the right ways to go
Life can change don’t you know.

"This is from the viewpoint of the last part of a old couch that is too big for the house. How his life changed and ours can too. "

Marie777,

This has an interesting form.  I don't quite get the words, but that's okay, I'm a little slow.

Hi Bobby and Ray, thank you for your reviews. Bobby, what Ray wrote is very true. We used to have a large sectional couch. When we downsized and moved we had to get rid of all of it but the one part. Then even that had to go. So I wrote the poem thinking (if that was possible) from the view point of the couch that was left. In life we are pushed from place to place too, and at some point, often old age, we feel worn out, in the way, and fear being thrown aside. But attitude and good placement in life makes all the difference. I'm glad that you enjoyed the poem. Marie
