YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN FORTY-ONE TODAY
1 November 2006

Fifty-four bleak moons,
hands in soil, and quiet eyes
search skywards for signs.

-Owl,

Your poetry is so beautiful.  This is sad and makes me want to just open my hug stash and send some your way.

Thanks, Alison.  This is about my beloved horse, Flicka, who went to Heaven at the age of 37½.  I was his for 20½ years and knew him for 2 years before I was his.  I didn't know about death, nor understand its effects on those left behind, before he went to Heaven.  Now I do.

Strange thing - some hugs have just floated in the window with a label saying, "To Owl from Alison".  Thanks and smiles.

I am sure, dear Diana, that you spend your nightly dreams together riding heavenly itineraries ...
Beautiful longing in this.

I have such a bond with my cat King Mizar I, who was with me for almost 18 years. I dream of him often, he is so much more than a "cat", he is a being of light and we are forever connected.

Love and hugs.

Thank you Margherita.  I so understand.  I can assure you (as crazy as many people will think I am) that Flicka has met King Mizar because he adores all animals especially dogs and cats - people too.  I am sure he meets them all at the gate and shows them all around Heaven and introduces them to everyone.  They all adore/d him too as do/did people.  One young 12 year old (far older now) said that he had an aura around him that drew everyone to him.

Yes, yes I am sure that this is the truth, dear Diana. I often find King Mizar together with my mother and other animals with whom I had a "story". It's uplifting and warms my heart.
Now, here I have Zelda, my "new" cat, she wants me to play with her. Can't refuse that wish, she is a wonderful being too ...

Love and hugs.

You know, I understand, my dear Diana. The bond between you and Flicka will never be broken.

My beloved cat of 18 years, Magic, passed the Christmas before last. Some of the 'magic' went out of my life, but she visits often.

Love to you, my friend,
Linda

Lovely tribute to your beloved horse Diana.
I understand how you feel as I am very attached to all of my dear little, furry family.

Margherita, meeows from Tigger, my tabby cat (13 on 15 March 2008 - mine for more than 13 years), and woofs from Daisy my Maltese poodle (13 on 24 May 2008, but only mine for 4 years) to Zelda.

Linda, thanks for understanding about my darling Flicka and me.  You know, Magic and Flicka and King Mizar all know each other, I am sure, better than we know each other and are having great fun in Heaven.

Thanks, Ida.  Our furry family members are so, so special, aren't they?  Imagine a world without them - no, don't - the thought is too scary!
