.

Though calmly
Now innocuously
Passing
To my grave
Day by day—

Yet still here
Even birds

A robin cardinal
Starlings and three
Old ducks

Quickly cross
To the other side
As I walk by

Oh Oh John,

There must be a problem.  I used to have a big old dog that had a milky eye.  In this heavily Catholic hood, people used to cross themselves for protection from the evil eye.

My dog didn't worry about it, and neither did I.

John, I just wanted to let you know I still read you--I love your work.

And this one? Well, I thought I detected some amusement in the solitary moment.

Well, maybe bemusement?

I do enjoy the glimpses you give us though, so very much.

(great title, too)

It wasn't personal - we just did it out of precaution, knowing the general characteristics of humans.  However, now that we know it is you, we will stay on the same side next time and greet you with friendly twitters and quacks.
