Felix, enslaved in foster care,
was made to cut down
a large wild cherry tree.

With his chainsaw,
he was forced to cut it
into boards.

It was hard, torturous work.

He was made to stack
those boards carefully.

Three years later,
when the wood had cured,
and after his foster Dad had died,
he spirited those boards away,
and hid them in a dry place
only he knew about.

Another two years later,
he returned,
stole those cured
cherry boards away,
took them home,
and carved his Angelo
a bed frame.

He sanded,
and polished that frame
with melted beeswax.

He made a tight rope
and cotton stuffed mattress
for the bed.

Angelo always slept sound
in that bed.

It held the sweet smell
of the beeswax.

Bobby

Thanks dear Passing shadows,

Yes, natural beeswax does smell good.  The wax from Tulip Poplar honey is probably the best for smell.

If must have been very rewarding to create something for your son with your own hands.

Now this was a good use of the cherry wood, especially if it was left abandoned there ...

I'm sure Angelo felt the love you had put into making that bed for him. All things emanate energy and this made for nice dreams no doubt.

Love,

Thanks dear Margherita,

Yes, angelo enjoyed his bed very much.

Wood plays a major part in everyones world.  Everything from houses, to books.  It is our one, renewable, natural resource.  All that is required is sun light, water, and air.

'Tis no wonder why Angelo slept like a babe in the bed that love built.

This was a 'honey' of a story.

There is a love and devotion here that borders on the extraordinary; the "understatement" in the last two lines explode with meaning that words can't describe. This is magnificent writing, Bobby!

Thanks dear Joyce,

Like every human being, no matter whom, Felix is a very complex individual.
