there were forests of sand trees we could be tall gods over in our bare feet secrets when the night brought dreams I remember the walls of tired wood leaning into the seeping of zydeco and how your whispers felt there like kiss liquor and sipping hungry my shoulders fit your easy but your hands held me back just long enough for a slow smile before we climbed into our trees and waited in our limbs with wind praying no dawn would notice the paleness of our feathers when they were wet and wanting more than just the occasional of oceans daark |
