Felix Takes Sally Home

Sally’s through dancing
for the night.

She’s relaxed,
tired,
and her body’s aching
from all the moves
she’s been making
on the dais.

Sally and Felix
are sitting quite
at a table.

They’re holding hands,
as man and wife should.

They get up to leave.

Felix has brought
a nice warm coat to cover
Sally’s near naked body.

Felix wraps her up,
while late-leave bar patrons
look away.

No one’s anxious
to mess with Felix.

He’s got this reputation.

It’s one o’clock in the morning,
and a few little kids
are still shooting hoops
in the playground
across the street
from home.
