There’s steel and there’s fury
That flies passed my head
There’s stench and there’s blood
And eyes of the dead

There’s mercy not here
Or angels that sing
Just evil of man
And death it does bring

So many have perished
By hand of defeat
By boys trained as soldiers
With hero’s to meet

Pawns of a power
That good can’t control
The dead to their maker
May peace take their soul

The dark is upon me
The screams become clear
The war cry of wounded
With death ever near

Some luck and ones blessing
Or quickly to die
The evil of war
That man can’t deny

It shall keep going on Ida, one day the excuse will be war. Thanks for the reply my friend, take care.

I read this for the title, fearing that its content might be more political than my taste, but found you captured the essence and truth of war...and unfortunately truth is not found often in politics...well done...loved this one
