Be Still, My Love
Please Click Link above to hear music and my voice recording.

Music is entitled "Skibbereen" by Howard Baer
From the album: "Celtic Mystique"

Artist: Marianne Stokes

Be Still, My Love
by Linda L. Dowd

Be still, my love.
Listen to the soft
watercolor memories
that drip,
drop by drop,
from this broken
vessel of love.

Reach out thy hand
and touch
mine fractured
face of clay.
Pray-tell,
behold me not in disdain,
as I weep tears of blood
into the fissures
of this once fertile soil
of the gods.

Our time of harvest
had been ever so plentiful.
But, alas, screaming winds
have stripped the fruit
from verdant vines,
leaving the urn
of my soul,
drained
and
empty.

Taste the salt
of these briny tears I cry,
as this now barren land
greedily drinks
of mine essence.
This virgin soil no longer bears
the fruit of love's
sweet berries.

Torn by pulls of both heart and mind
I fear I cannot remain,
~ nor have I the will to depart.
as my listless spirit
cries out in vain
for what
once
was.

Come, my love.
Take mine hand
in thine.
Let us begin anew
with the coming
of burgeoning Spring,
that we might reclaim the
passions of seasons past.
Let us relinquish all regrets,
for the time is ripe
for planting seeds of love,
~ not tears of sorrow.

Love is the unifying force which integrates
one’s soul with that of another.

Yo Linda,

This is artfully done.  It has a nice shape, and the poem works well.

Dear Linda,

I'm trying to be still, but my heart just won't cooperate.

As always another wonderful poem, from a wonderful poetess!

Truly lovely, dear Linda!  My sound is working and your voice brought beauty into my home - well, not my home but I'm sure you'll do another recording for when I am in my own home.  I look forward to that.

Hugs
Helen

I will listen to your voice tomorrow, now I can't, it is too late, but as I actually remember your sweet voice I heard it all the same in my mind and heart.

For that is where you touched me with your beauty, dear Angelo Terrestre.

Awesome message, exquisitely conveyed!!

Love you,
Margherita

Linda, This is so beautiful. Your writing seems to be deeper and more classical lately.
I love it.

Oh, I wish that the sound was working on your computer as well! The music that I post with these recited poems, is magical! I spend so much time searching for the most enchanting music that I have ever heard. I could never get tired of the music! Mind you, I could weary of my voice and my poetry! lol

Greetings, Dear Dixie! That was very nice of you to say! Mind you, I know that you are just as capable of doing these as much as I am! I'm not a techy person, so it just takes me a longer time to figure these things out! ~ Then I have a problem with remembering how I did it!

Loving hug,

Not in your own home?!? ~ Hmm, something tells me that there is a story here. I trust that it is a good one!

I am thrilled that you are able to hear the audio! It means a lot to me to know that you can.

Dear Ida, I do believe you're correct in that surmisal! lol I seem to be slipping into that classical era of romance! It feels so natural, comfortable and with it comes a sense of coming home! Hmmm! Whatever couldst that mean?

Loving hug,
Linda
