I can handle the fact
that I am nothing to you
as well as I can handle
a drive-by shooting

life goes on
in both cases, true,
but crippled into rerouting

it makes me wonder
if you own remorse,
if you are alive
can you look into eyes

mine, or your own
par for the course
to never see what underlies.

A man cannot truly see if he doesn't take the time to really look. In your case, it's his loss, I'd say.

Yes, Dixie, that seems to apply to many people these days but we only notice it when we ourselves can see "what underlies". It took me a lifetime to "see"
so with that in mind it's easier to be patient.
